A Sower
Matthew 13:3, And He spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; 4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the wayside, and the fowls came and devoured them up: 5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: 6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. 7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: 8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some a hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. 9 Who has ears to hear, let him hear.
Matthew 13:12, For whosoever has, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever has not, from him shall be taken away even that he has. 13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
Matthew 13:16, But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. 17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
Matthew 13:18, Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. 19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and understands it not, then comes the wicked one, and catches away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the wayside. 20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that hears the word, and anon with joy receives it; 21 Yet has he not root in himself, but endures for a while: for when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, by and by he is offended. 22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that hears the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. 23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that hears the word, and understands it; which also bears fruit, and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
Fully understand this parable:
Being fruitful is referring to an individual’s faith and spiritual growth. Fruitfulness is not determined by others that believe or disbelieve you. Fruitfulness is not determined by the size of your congregation; for even the vultures circle around the dead bodies. We are still supposed to spread the gospel as best and as often as we can; this is letting our light shine.
The wayside, are those people that hear the word of God and don’t understand it, then Satan takes it from their heart. An example would be, someone who for lack of understanding doesn’t see what God is requiring of them. So they end up not following God and are lost. How many times have people said, “You don’t have to do that to be saved!” when the scripture clearly says otherwise… this is Satan speaking through them; if you don’t understand God’s word you will believe them and become lost.
The Stone Places, are those people that hear the word of God and immediately receives it with joy. But don’t have the heart for it, and when they are afflicted or persecuted for sharing God’s word they become offended by God’s word; they could not handle people hating them and become lost. For example, The word of God clearly states that for a man to have sex with another man or a woman to have sex with another woman is an abomination before God. So if those people don’t ask forgiveness of God and stop that behavior they will not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Among the thorns, are those people that hear the word of God, but the world’s morality, riches, and lust prevail. Making the word of God void in them and become lost.
The good ground, referring to those people that hear the word of God and understand it. And have a heart that is willfully desiring to put God before all, no matter the cost. Where it reads, “and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” this is referring to spiritual knowledge, it increases when the word is sowed in the good ground or to say a good heart. Example of the good ground; when you discover what God expects from you, you try your very best to meet those expectations. And you teach others to do so. [If and when you fall short of those expectations; you ask forgiveness and for God to help you with what you struggle with.]
Matthew 13:12, For whosoever has, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever has not, from him shall be taken away even that he has. In other words: “For whosoever, has a heart that is willfully desiring to put God before all, no matter the cost, more will be given. But whosoever has not the desired to put God before all, no matter the cost; even that which they seemed to have will be taken away.”
Be warned, for everyone is right in their own eyes examine yourself carefully!
If today you are not in the “Good Ground Category” ask God to open your heart to Him.
