Begins with Salvation
It takes faith and obedience to follow our Lord and Savior. Faith first, you must believe that Jesus Christ died and suffered so you could be saved and was resurrected after three days and is alive forevermore. Once you have accepted Jesus into your heart, He gives you the gift of the Holy Ghost. This is when Jesus turns your body into a temple by placing His Holy Ghost Spirit in you. From this point on, you should treat your body as a temple. The Lord, our God, is one Lord. Obedience comes next; you must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins. Your whole body needs to be underwater. After you have been baptized, your temple is now able to be filled with the Holy Ghost. Important: Obedience does not stop there…
Think of it like this
You have just accepted Jesus in your heart and opened the door to your temple to invite the Spirit of God in, but you are standing in His way. So He only puts one foot in your temple. After you’re baptized in obedience to His word, this allows you to start moving out of God’s way, and His Spirit starts to fill your temple. This is why two people can have the Holy Ghost in them, but one has a much greater understanding of the Holy Scripture. And is utilizing his spiritual gifts better than the other. Revelations 3:20, Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come into him, and will sup with him, and he with Me. [Holy Ghost, Comforter reference]
Faith 2 Corinthians 5:7 “For we walk by faith, not by sight”
Faith in God; is believing in Him without seeing Him. If we could see God, we wouldn’t need faith and wouldn’t need to hope for salvation. Understand, we were with God before the foundation of this world as angels. Before the creation of the world, Satan was an angel in heaven. Satan, along with some other angels, betrayed God and wanted to take God’s glory. This is why Satan and the ones that followed him were punished and thrown out of Heaven. Now because of Satan’s treachery, we had to be tested to weed out any other angels that weren’t worthy to stand before God in Heaven. The test: send us down to Earth, encase us in a flesh body. Wipe away our memories of our life with God, as angels, using Satan to tempt us as he tempted the other fallen angels. It is in this state we must choose God and deny ourselves. Rejecting Satan’s temptations and the desires of this flesh. If we pass our test, we will be restored/redeemed and returned to our angel state.
1st Corinthians 6:2-3, Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?
John 3:13, And no man has ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of Man which is in heaven.
John 15:19, If you were of the world, the world would love his own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
John 17:14, I have given them Thy word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
John 18:36, My kingdom is not of this world: if My kingdom were of this world, then would My servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is My kingdom not from here.
Jeremiah 1:5, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou came forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Revelations 5:9,[angels speaking], 9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou are worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for Thou was slain, and has redeemed us to God by Thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; 10 And have made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
Redeem: to save from death.
Titus 2:13-14, Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
Psalms Chapter 82:1-7, God stands in the congregation of the mighty; He judges among the gods. 2 How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah. 3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy. 4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked. 5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course. 6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the Most High. 7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.
[Important note: verses 1 and 6 “gods” is referring to angels]
Book of Abraham confirms this
Chapter 3:22-25, Now the Lord had shown unto me, Abraham, the intelligences that were organized before the world was; and among all these there were many of the noble and great ones; 23 And God saw these souls that they were good, and He stood in the midst of them, and He said: These I will make My rulers; for He stood among those that were spirits, and He saw that they were good; and He said unto me: Abraham, thou are one of them; thou was chosen before thou was born. 24 And there stood one among them that was like unto God, and He said unto those who were with Him: We will go down, for there is space there, and we will take of these materials, and we will make an earth whereon these may dwell; 25 And we will prove them herewith, to see if they will do all things whatsoever the Lord their God shall command them;
Let your faith be in God the maker of heaven and earth! Not the science of men… Men marvel at their own knowledge and puff up their heads, not knowing or understanding that is to their hurt. God’s way is far above our ways and His understanding is far beyond ours, to think otherwise is pure foolishness.
Psalms 25:14, The secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him; and He will show them His covenant.
Obedience
Obedience is a requirement, and to be good at it, you need someone to obey. I’m talking about hands-on experience. You wouldn’t read a book about martial arts and then profess to be a black belt, would you? Or teach an automotive class, and your students never pick up a tool. It takes a certain amount of humility to obey someone, and we all must be humble before God and man. This is why God set up a Chain of Command.
Household:
Father – Head of the house [Obedient to God]
Mother – Obedient to and supports Husband
Children – Obedient to Mother and Father
In Corinthians 14:33-38, Paul makes it clear that he is referring to every church, and women are not to speak in the church and to be under obedience as the law says. They are supposed to get their spiritual learning from their husbands [women teaching women is as the blind teaching the blind]. For Paul went on to say in verse 36, What? Came the word out from you?[that is to say: Are you God the Maker and Giver of the law?] or came it unto you only?[that is to say: or the receiver of God’s law only?; not the author of the law but the obedient follower of the law.]
In Ephesians 6:1-4, Children are supposed to obey both parents. In verse 4, fathers are the only ones responsible for provoking or not provoking children to wrath. Why not mothers? this is because the mother’s instruction should be in accordance with the father’s. When a woman marries a man they become one flesh before the Lord the man then becomes the head of that one body. [So, when the household is obedient to God’s chain of command the father bears all the responsibility. If the household does not follow God’s chain of command the household is in confusion.]

Corinthians 14:33-38, For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. 34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. 35 And if they will learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
36 What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only? 37 If any man thinks himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. 38 But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
Corinthians 11:3, But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
Ephesians 6:1-4, Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2 Honor thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) 3 That it may be well with thee, and thou may live long on the earth. 4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
We all start as children having to obey our parents. This hands-on experience helps us later in our walk with the Lord. If we can’t obey, the people we see. Then how can we obey God? who, we don’t see. In fact, we disobey God by not obeying the people He set before us. [Chain of Command]
When you work, you should work as if you are working for God. So try your very best and obey your bosses.
Obey your spiritual guide trusting that the Holy Ghost is speaking through him. Your spiritual guide is the person who brought you to the truth about our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 6:5-9, Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; 6 Not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; 7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: 8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man does, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free. 9 And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with Him.
Remember: When someone tells you to do something, instead of asking you nicely, do it gladly without complaint. God doesn’t require them to ask you nicely [they can not be threatening though, that would be crossing the line]. Now for those who God has placed in authority over others. Hear this; When you ask people nicely, it shows humility, and the One in authority over all things is watching you.
Satan lies and tells you what you want to hear, not what you need to hear to be with God. Without obedience, you will fall short, ending up lukewarm or cold in God’s eyes.
Revelations 3:15-16, I know thy works, that thou are neither cold nor hot: I would thou were cold or hot. 16 So then because thou are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of My mouth.
Resist the devil, and he will flee and obey God in all things
God is our Righteous Judge if God’s word testifies against you! It would not matter if thousands of people said you’re right. You would still be wrong; follow God. God’s kingdom is a Monarchy, the majority does not rule in His kingdom, He is above all.
Baptism
All things are done in the name of Jesus this includes baptism. Jesus is the door that we must all walk through to enter the kingdom of heaven. When we honor His mighty name we honor the Father, the Son, and Holy Ghost; for God is one God and as Jesus is one part of the whole.
Is your right arm… less a part of you than your left? or is it less a part of you than your torso? God forbid. So as we honor the part of God that suffered and laid down His life for us, we honor every part of God. This why we do not use Jehovah anymore; it would be as a denial of what Jesus did for us, in His sight.
Baptism symbolizes; the act of being born again, willfully giving your heart over to God, and is a requirement before God. Children should be baptized as soon as they are old enough to understand this. Babies are born into a sinful world but have committed no sin before God; any baby or child that dies prior to understanding this will automatically get into heaven. The symbolism; as is a baby is submerged in the mother’s womb, as is a correct baptism is performed by fully submerging the person in the water.
The Catholics claim to be the church that Jesus was going to establish after “Peter”. But they don’t even follow what Peter said concerning baptism; so how could that be?.. they’re not!.. [If you wish to know the truth about this; read “Upon This Rock” from our list of teaching pages, or click here: Upon This Rock.]
Peter said to baptize everyone in the name of Jesus. Why? because Peter understood what I have just explained to you. What baby would survive if they only had a sprinkle of amniotic fluid on them in the womb? none… Neither does a sprinkle of water do it…
Read it yourself
Acts 2:38, Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Colossians 3:17, And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him.
Baptism is rebirth; giving up the old life and living for God, do not return to your previous sins, but live for God. You were indeed purchased at a high price. Not your body but the body of Christ that lives within you. Otherwise, God will leave your temple void of His Holy Ghost, giving you space to repent.
But if you repent not, He will remove some or all protection from you giving you over to the enemy that is in this world. Making it harder to rejoin His fold because you had no respect for the gift of God, the Holy Ghost. Matthew 12:43-45, When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. 44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from where I came out; and when he is come, he finds it empty, swept, and garnished. 45 Then goes he, and takes with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation. Understand: 43. not choosing to live for God, 44. God’s giving space to repent, 45. Making it harder to rejoin His fold because they had no respect for the gift of God.
Example of this
Someone has been baptized in the name of Jesus and has been forgiven of their sins. Due to a weakness in them or bad teaching, they return to their old ways as though they were never baptized. And one day they look at themselves and realize they have a porn addiction or alcohol addiction, or uncontrollable rage which they never suffered prior to being baptized. Likewise, someone that has had a bad spirit cast out of them should then live for God, or fall into a worse state than before.
John 5:13-15, And he that was healed knew not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed Himself away, a multitude being in that place. 14 Afterward Jesus finds him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou are made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. 15 The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.
Baptism is an agreement
Every testament between God and man;
1.) Must be made with blood
2.) Agreement to the testament
[1st testament, animals blood, agreement: verbal, God purchased the children of Israel by freeing them from bondage]
Exodus 24:6-8, 6 And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basins; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. 7 And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the Lord has said will we do, and be obedient. 8 And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the Lord has made with you concerning all these words.
[2nd testament, the blood of Jesus, agreement: Baptism, God purchased you on the cross]
John 19:28-30, 28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. 29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a sponge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to His mouth. 30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, He said, It is finished: and He bowed His head, and gave up the ghost.
Baptism is rebirth it symbolizes re-entering the womb through submersion. As your body is leaving the womb or exiting the water, you are now a new creature before the eyes of God.
1.) God has agreed to to give you the gift of Holy Ghost and eternal life.
2.) You have agreed to LIVE FOR THE LORD and be obedient to Him.
If you have been baptized in the name of Jesus, do not behave as you did prior to being baptized or you will not be living up to your part of the agreement. Therefore live for the Lord! love Him with all your heart, mind and soul. Withhold nothing from Him, our walk is faith, love and obedience.
John 3:3-7, 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus saith unto Him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
Fasting
Is all about denying yourself: Jesus taught us the way to overcome weak faith is through prayer and fasting.
Food fasting; denying yourself food, and/or drink.
Charity fasting; denying yourself time or money i.e. helping someone in need or giving to someone in need.
Complete fasting; doing both food with charity, God will be attentive to your prays and reveal more of Himself in your life, without a doubt!
All fasts are not equal:
There are many different ways to fast, I recommend a one-day fast [from sunrise to sunset] to start, don’t eat or drink water, sing to the Lord, pray, and ask Him to increase your faith. Read His word and if you declare a one-day fast to the Lord, then make sure you do just that. Later you can do 24 hours fast, be sure you finish it. Set yourself up for success, not failure, you could even do a four-hour fast to start. This is another way of exercising your faith. Later after you know, you can complete a one-day fast with no food or water. Move on to a two-day fast. I recommend: no food or water day one, day two add water but no food. However, you declare the fast make sure you stick to it. [Note: you can google the sunrise and sunset times from your cell phone using your location to determine the length of your day fast or your multiple fast days, whichever the case may be.]
Matthew 5:6, Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Matthew 6:16, Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 17 But thou, when thou fast, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; 18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which sees in secret, shall reward thee openly.
Matthew 9:14-15, Then came to Him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but Thy disciples fast not? 15 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.
Isaiah 58:6-7, Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? 7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou see the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?
Holy Ghost
The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of God Himself living in you as your guide and teacher. The Lord, our God is one Lord, so if someone says, “It’s God in me” or “It’s Jesus in me” or “It’s the Holy Ghost in me,” they are all correct. They are all the same; our God is alive. He has eyes to see, ears to hear, and a mouth to speak. God doesn’t change, and He can and will speak to you and teach you when you seek Him correctly. The Holy Ghost speaks to you in different ways. Sometimes He speaks to you directly [Matthew 10:27], and you hear Him. Sometimes you’re in prayer, and He speaks and shows you scripture along with the understanding of the scripture. Other times He puts a strong feeling on your heart to do something or not to do something. He speaks to you through other people filled with the Holy Ghost. [John 6:29]
Matthew 10:27, What I tell you in darkness, that speak you in light: and what you hear in the ear, that preach you upon the housetops.
John 6:45, It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that has heard, and has learned of the Father, comes unto Me.
John 14:26, But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 6:29, This is the work of God, that you believe on him whom He has sent.
Numbers 12:6, Hear now My words: If there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make Myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.
Learn to listen and obey God in all things, and be blessed.
Temple
Men can make buildings and place a cross on them; they can even call them churches or temples of God. That being said, men don’t govern the kingdom of God. God makes the rules, and we have to obey Him. Jesus Christ is the Head of the church. To be clear, there is no church without the Spirit of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If the Holy Ghost isn’t present, it’s just a building made by men. Leave that building; only the dead congregate there!
Beware, some of these buildings look real spiritual, and the degree hanging on the wall looks impressive to the flesh. I tell you this: The Holy Ghost isn’t printed on man’s paper and doesn’t hang on walls collecting dust. Men don’t fill men with the Holy Ghost, and their understanding isn’t even to be compared to the Holy Ghost, But God fills us with His Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is our guide and teacher. We live by faith not sight.
If a man says, “God doesn’t speak to people anymore.” What he is really saying is, “God has never spoken to me.” Run from this man, for he is the blind wanting to lead you.
If a man says that he is filled with the Holy Ghost and speaks against these sayings, he is a liar. The same Holy Ghost that flows through me is the same Holy Ghost that flowed through Peter, Paul, James, John, Matthew, and many others. May the words of the Lord be true and every man a liar.
Your body becomes a temple when the Spirit of God enters into you. This is true even if you just accepted Jesus into your heart and the Holy Ghost is present but hasn’t completely filled your temple yet. Respect your body for our Lord is in you, example: don’t be promiscuous, don’t curse, don’t smoke; You wouldn’t smoke in church, you wouldn’t curse in church and you wouldn’t brag about how many different sex partners you’ve been with, sitting in church either.
When you do things that are offensive before God and don’t repent right away, it causes Him to leave your temple and wait outside your temple door for you to stop the offensive act. If and when you stop the offensive act and ask forgiveness, God re-enters your temple. Now during the time God was at your temple door, you weren’t moving forward with Him. If you go too long without repenting, you run the risk of moving your relationship with God backward.
Think of it like this:
You have a mother who you love; and loves you, but she is sensitive to cigarette smoke. You come home from work and light up your cigarette, and the smoke soon fills the house. Not realizing she’s downstairs taking in the smoke.
Now she walks up the stairway coughing, and she sees you smoking and gets offended because you see her and don’t put the cigarette down. You had a rough day at work, and this cigarette is taking the edge off. So she goes outside to get some air, the smoke is so disagreeable with her she can’t be inside your house anymore.
Looking out your window, you see her and start to feel bad. After all, she has only done well by you. Then you put the cigarette out and open all the windows in the house. You go to her and ask her to forgive you as you explain what a bad day you just had. Because she loves you dearly, she forgives you and re-enters your house and visits with you. [Revelations 3:20]
1 Corinthians 6:19-20, What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
In 1 Corinthians 6:20, “bought with a price” is referring to the blood of Jesus, your body is not your own it’s His.
Consider this for a moment
There was a beautiful new Church of Christ it was located somewhere in the Middle East. The architecture was spectacular, there were lots of windows on every side of it, and they placed a bright light inside it. So that everyone that walks by could see that light shine through the dark of night.
This magnificent Church of Christ shined like this in its place for about a week. Then the people that lived around the Church were angry for the Church because they didn’t belong to it. They gathered themselves and showed up at this Church, it was around the time of the rising sun. The light was too bright at night and they feared discovery.
The people moved quickly and quietly, first they spray painted the lower parts of the Church from the cover of nearby bushes. Then they became bolder and spray painted other parts of the Church that were in plain sight. Other neighbors passed by, along the far side of the street, but said nothing to them that defaced the Church, for it wasn’t their Church. And when none came to stop them, they were all the bolder and began to paint the windows also. It’s a truth, they hated this light and were determined to prevent it from shining in the dark of night anymore.
Sadly, when the Church members arrived later that morning to worship there. They saw this once magnificent Church completely defamed by the offensive graffiti, and to their shame did nothing to clean it up. One said,” it’s not my job! I didn’t come to this Church to clean and remove paint off the walls!” Another said,” Haven’t I given enough to the Church in tithings? and now I have to pay for paint remover also? not me.” Then the last man murmured,” Let us forget about this and mention it no more.” So they all agreed and went inside and sat down. It was quiet inside their once magnificent Church, they didn’t see the Joy or hear the Praise because none spoke a word while they sat there.
The following week was the same, they showed up pretending as though the graffiti didn’t exist. Then one morning when they showed up a stranger was there waiting outside of the main doors, which were still covered with graffiti. He said to them, “Does this glorify God?..” They looked at each other and said,” Who are you?” He responded,” I’m the one that purchased this building, and made it magnificent. I made it this way and gave it to you to maintain its magnificence, even though we haven’t met yet, I did this for you. So you could glorify God in a way that is pleasing before Him. Yes, the Church I gave you was magnificent indeed, it was the envy of all who looked on it. Now you have shamed yourself by not cleaning up this Temple of the Most High. Clean it up quickly before I remove it from you!”
After he had left, one looked at another. One was furious at the chastisement and lifted his hands and then threw his hands down and walked away angry. Another wept for he had been shamed and lastly the third found joy and sang to God as he began to scrub away the detestable graffiti.
There was a time when it was not possible to remove tattoos and at that time people that had gotten them through their ignorance of God’s ways, could only ask forgiveness for them. But today tattoo removal is available and when you come to God having tattoos, the next step after asking forgiveness is to save up and have them removed one by one. Otherwise, you are leaving God’s temple graffitied on. [God does not hold you accountable until you have been told, now you have been told.] Leviticus 19:28, Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord.
1 Corinthians 3:15-17, If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. 16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
