Chapter 136
O give thanks unto the Lord; for He is good: for His mercy endures forever. 2 O give thanks unto the God of gods: for His mercy endures forever. 3 O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for His mercy endures forever. 4 To Him who alone does great wonders: for His mercy endures forever. 5 To him that by wisdom made the heavens: for His mercy endures forever. 6 To him that stretched out the earth above the waters: for His mercy endures forever. 7 To Him that made great lights: for His mercy endures forever: 8 The sun to rule by day: for His mercy endures forever: 9 The moon and stars to rule by night: for His mercy endures forever. 10 To Him that smote Egypt in their firstborn: for His mercy endures forever: 11 And brought out Israel from among them: for His mercy endures forever: 12 With a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm: for His mercy endures forever. 13 To Him which divided the Red Sea into parts: for His mercy endures forever: 14 And made Israel to pass through the midst of it: for His mercy endures forever: 15 But overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red Sea: for His mercy endures forever. 16 To Him which led His people through the wilderness: for His mercy endures forever. 17 To him which smote great kings: for His mercy endures forever: 18 And slew famous kings: for His mercy endures forever: 19 Sihon king of the Amorites: for His mercy endures forever: 20 And Og the king of Bashan: for His mercy endures forever: 21 And gave their land for a heritage: for His mercy endures forever: 22 Even a heritage unto Israel His servant: for His mercy endures forever. 23 Who remembered us in our low estate: for His mercy endures forever: 24 And has redeemed us from our enemies: for His mercy endures forever. 25 Who gives food to all flesh: for His mercy endures forever. 26 O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for His mercy endures forever.

Chapter 137
By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion. 2 We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof. 3 For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.
4 How shall we sing the Lord’s song in a strange land? 5 If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning. 6 If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy. 7 Remember, O Lord, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Raze it, raze it, even to the foundation thereof. 8 O daughter of Babylon, who are to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that rewards thee as thou have served us. 9 Happy shall he be, that takes and dashes thy little ones against the stones.

Chapter 138
I will praise Thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto Thee. 2 I will worship toward Thy holy temple, and praise Thy name for Thy lovingkindness and for Thy truth: for Thou have magnified Thy word above all Thy name. 3 In the day when I cried Thou answered me, and strengthened me with strength in my soul.
4 All the kings of the earth shall praise Thee, O Lord, when they hear the words of Thy mouth. 5 Yea, they shall sing in the ways of the Lord: for great is the glory of the Lord. 6 Though the Lord be high, yet has He respect unto the lowly: but the proud He knows afar off.
7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, Thou will revive me: Thou shall stretch forth Thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and Thy right hand shall save me. 8 The Lord will perfect that which concerns me: Thy mercy, O Lord, endures forever: forsake not the works of Thine own hands.
