Reasoning the 1st and the 2nd
Isaiah 1:18-20, Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. 19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: 20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it.
Let us reason together
Testaments between God and man have to be done in blood. The 1st testament from God was given to Moses and was done with animal blood and the 2nd testament of God was done with the blood of God Himself in the flesh. Jesus is the part of God that was made flesh and is referred to as God’s Son because of the flesh. This is why the 2nd testament is the greater testament, it does not make the 1st testament void.
Truly there is no difference in the eyes of God, for God has said, “I am a jealous God and will give My glory to none other”. This is why the Holy Trinity, three into one, is actually one. Think of it like this; God the Father is the original state of God, The Son, Jesus, is the part of God that makes intercessions between God and man and God and angels, for Jesus is the highest Priest of all. The Holy Ghost is the part of God given to all believers through Jesus. When Jesus said in the book of John that He and God are one, He meant just that.
Another way to look at the Holy Trinity, is like this; Is your right arm not a part of your body? Or is your torso not a part of your body? So it is with God. Jesus is like the right arm of God and the Holy Ghost the same. This is also why Jesus is the one way and one name to enter into heaven. Jesus is the part of God that suffered and died and was resurrected. No one can enter God’s Kingdom without acknowledging this and being obedient to the will of God.
Before the law was given to Moses by God the children of Israel and the world could claim ignorance. Not know wrong from right, The law removed that ignorance; it taught them good from evil. It also taught them the correct way to worship God prior to the fulfillment of the Savior. It taught them diet, how to dress [blue trim], to respect the bodies [no tattoos], and things specific to them entering the land God promised them.
When the Savior came, Jesus, He quoted the parts of the law that pertained to good from evil. He freed us from what we could eat but not how those things are prepared, in other words, no blood… and obviously, cannibalism is still a sin. Jesus freed us from the blue-trim clothing requirement. No more priesthood in the structure of God’s church [Jesus is the highest priest of all and is the Head of the church] Bishop, Deacon, and Minister only until His return. [Jesus will return and reign on Earth for a thousand years, and at that time He will bring the priesthood back and His doctrine will be taught throughout the world. Every man woman and child will follow God the way God intended for one of God’s days, which is a thousand of our years. During this time the devil will be locked away.]
Jesus has given us the Comforter to guide and teach us, this can be to teach us directly or lead us to an obedient church. It depends on your calling, some will be called to minister in one fashion or another and others have been called to worship. Whatever your calling do it with all your heart, all your mind, and all your soul.
Romans 7:4, Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to Him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God. Romans 7:7, What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shall not covet. Romans 7:12, Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
In Romans 7:4,7,12, 4 Because we are dead to the law and by the body of Christ should be married to another; is to say the 2nd testament is greater than the first. 7, the law teaches us good from evil. 12, the law is still holy and just and good.
God’s law given to Moses was for them to read and follow. The Holy Ghost writes His law, what is good from what is evil, on our hearts. So we know that the law given to Moses is not void, Jesus Himself said He didn’t come to destroy the law or the prophets… But Jesus gave the law to all that believe in Him and He writes the law on their heart.
The parts of the law that pertain to our salvation as intended after the coming of Christ. Jesus was our example on how to reason out the law given to Moses; so we could determine and do all those applicable commandments:
Matthew 4:4, But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.
Matthew 4:7, Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shall not tempt the Lord thy God.
Matthew 4:10, Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, thou shall worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shall thou serve.
Matthew 8:4, And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, show thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
Matthew 19:18-19, He saith unto Him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shall do no murder, Thou shall not commit adultery, Thou shall not steal, Thou shall not bear false witness, 19 Honor thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself.
Matthew 21:13, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.
Matthew 22:37-40, Jesus said unto him, Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Matthew 23:8-10, But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. 9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. 10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.
John 2:16, And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things here; make not My Father’s house a house of merchandise.
John 7:37-39, In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink. 38 He that believes on Me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake He of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
The End to Stoning
John 8:7-11, So when they continued asking Him, He lifted up Himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. 8 And again He stooped down, and wrote on the ground. 9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Jesus had lifted up Himself, and saw none but the woman, He said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? has no man condemned thee? 11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
The Scribes, Sadducees, and Pharisees had stoned God’s prophets. They used God’s law to weaponize it, not holding themselves to the same standards. Becoming hypocritical, shedding the blood of His saints… This did not please God. So Jesus ended stoning, knowing if anyone were to examine themselves, would find sin; of some sort in them. After seeing their sin inside their selves, the question is, Would they want to be stoned for it? Every one of them walked away for this reason. Matthew 22:39-40, And the second is like unto it, Thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. [The end of stoning was amended through this commandment]
Jesus offers forgiveness and a warning not to do it again. It is not the will of God that any should perish, but God does rejoice when one of His sons or daughters asks forgiveness and repents, changes, from their sin.
Reminder: This teaching is focused on a person’s individual walk with God; individuals should not be stoned by other individuals for their sins. A nation’s death penalty is not to be confused with this.
When reading the law given to Moses
Here are some good questions to consider to help you understand what God truly expects from you. As you learn you do, God does not hold you accountable for what you honestly did not know was a sin. But once you know He holds you fully accountable. Keep in mind, Jesus did not die on the cross so we could do whatever we want… we need God, He doesn’t need us.
-
- Is this a priest’s duty? if so it no longer applies.
- Does this apply to the giving of the promised land? if so it no longer applies.
- Does the wrong require sacrificing of animals? Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice, so ask Him for forgiveness and don’t do that anymore.
- Did Jesus mention it specifically? if so do what He said. Otherwise, the first testament applies.
- Is this concerning farming the land? doesn’t apply to city folks, but if you work the land follow it.
- Is this concerning ranchers? doesn’t apply to city folks, but if you raise livestock follow it.
- Is this diet-related? do what Jesus said, but prepare it in accord with the 1st [no blood].
- Is it clothing-related? no blue trim requirement, but modest clothing [men dress as men, women dress as women]
2 Corinthians 3:13-17, And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not steadfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: 14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remains the same veil untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which veil is done away in Christ. 15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart. 16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away. 17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
In 2 Corinthians 3:13-17, Christ abolished the veil, not the law. In doing so, He brought understanding and the end of certain things regarding the law as described previously on this page.
